A place to make memories!!!
We had an absolutely incredible time staying at Liz and Gary’s place! We had a family of 10 adults and several kids and arrived after a big snow. We had a blast placing in the snow, walking the property, talking and laughing around the fire, and making lots of memories…This is a place to make memories that will truly last a lifetime with family and friends!
We found the entire cabin well-equipped and thought out for a fun and relaxing stay in the Truckee area! Also a special shout to Dave who maintains the property, he was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about the area, responsive about any questions we had, and helped keep the driveway and walkways shoveled, clear, and safe after the snowstorm.

Wonderful escape to the snow!
While the pictures and description online had our group very excited about our stay at Hacienda de Leyenda, the in-person experience was even better. Ours was a group of 2 families with small children and we were just hoping for a small escape from the Bay Area to get away and remind the youngest in our group what the snow looked and felt like. The house was beautiful with endless rooms and spaces to play and enjoy with our friends. One thing that made the house even better was that it is extremely well stocked with most any item you would need, especially in the kitchen. Communication was great and easy to attain when questions came up during our stay. We would definitely return to this house again in the future!

Perfect!
Our group (4 couples) rented this house for a surprise 40th birthday. The location is quite amazing and very private. The home has plenty of space and the rooms are decorated very nicely. The kitchen became our unofficial gathering place where we cooked, talked and laughed throughout the day. At night we migrated to the lower lounge area to celebrate the big 4-0 which made the house even more fantastic.
The outdoor balcony was perfect for morning coffee and music. The sauna was a huge hit with the group as they prepped for the day. The hot tub and fire pit are placed in such a way that you feel like you are really in the woods.
The hosts have created a very special place at Hacienda de Leyenda.

Perfect for our intimate mountain wedding
This property was perfect for our intimate mountain wedding retreat! We had a little trouble getting clarification on a few things during the initial booking process, but during our stay the host was very responsive.
We were able to host our immediate family all in one spot with room to spare. Lots of space for lawn games. The play structure was fantastic for our two young nieces. The back deck was spacious, we ate every meal out there. We held the ceremony on one of the platforms behind the house with a beautiful view of the trees behind us. The stone platforms in the front are a nice setting, especially if there are more folks, we just loved the view from the backyard platform and had a small enough group for it to work well. It was important to us that our dog be part of our wedding, so I really appreciated such a fantastic property being dog friendly. Thank you for the great stay!

Hacienda de Leyenda – What a Property!
This place is epic! Huge property and home in the middle of the Sierra pine forest on the outskirts of Truckee. You are about 20 minutes from central Truckee, but the isolation is part of the experience. Local RV park has delicious sandwiches and a small market.
The home and amenities are extensive and beyond what the pictures can display. Hot Tub, sauna, workout equipment, pool table, huge kitchen, bbq, amazing back deck, etc. The home kept a large group of adults entertained and gave us the space to spread out. We had a bigger group one afternoon as part of a wedding weekend celebration and everyone raved about the house!
Liz and Gary were both extremely welcoming and informative hosts. Check-in was easy, and support during the stay provided when needed.
Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a retreat in the woods with a large group.

Exactly what we were looking for!
We were a group of coworkers going up to Tahoe for a weekend ski trip. The house was exactly what we were looking for and surpassed our expectations from the photos/descriptions. There is plenty of room for everyone, ample spaces, great amenities, and the basement was great to gather in. Check-in process was easy and the owner was friendly and flexible. Would recommend!

Amazing cabin for a large family
We have a large family and we go to Tahoe every year, so we’ve experienced a lot of places. It’s hard to find a beautiful and spacious cabin in the area. It was amazing having enough bedrooms, so everyone got comfortable.
The kids loved playing outside and watching them from the house, through the big windows, was very convenient. We were also able to sled around the house—which was pretty awesome.
Oh, and the long table!!! Loved it!!! I think this was the first time we could have all 18 of us eating together (and our photographer friends who came to take pictures of us). In terms of kitchen supplies and accessories, we had everything we needed.
We are certainly interested in going back next year.

2019 Family Christmas
This was our fourth year staying at the lodge and our first year of Liz and Gary as owners. Liz was wonderful to work with and we had an amazing stay. The lodge was well stocked with everything we needed for a warm and cozy early family Christmas. Mother Nature even treated us to a couple feet of snow that made for great sledding for our whole family. The pictures and memories will last forever. We hope to be able to return for years to come. Thank you Liz and Gary for opening up your wonderful home.

Great family retreat!
From beginning to end, our whole group had an amazing time. The booking process was pretty simple. Liz, was very quick to answer any questions we had and extremely kind. The home was located on a very private road with beautiful views all through the house. We enjoyed the sunset from the balcony every night.
The home had something nice for all ages. The oldest in our group was 84 and the youngest was 4 years old. Even the dogs were able to come along and enjoyed walking through the many acres around the property. The rooms were very nicely decorated and clean. With plenty of space to entertain. If you are looking for a place the whole family can enjoy this is it!

When the worst you can say is that the coffee filters were flat bottom and the machine was cone…. : )Our family enjoyed a 4-generation long weekend in this home and everyone was comfortable and happy with the stay. We’d do it again.

Beautiful Venue
The house as a venue and view is spectacular! Enough space for a big group to be comfortable and enjoy a relaxing getaway. There was a property closer than I expected, but I always felt like the group had our privacy and didn’t see any neighbors the whole trip. Perfect for a secluded trip!
